About Us
The Summer Exposure Combine was created to elevate the skills and professionalism of ice hockey referees through practical, high-level training. Now entering its fourth edition in 2026, the program continues to grow, bringing new methods, partners, and a broader international vision.
Today, the Combine is a recognized global development platform where officials strengthen essential areas of officiating: rule interpretation, positioning, communication, and modern game management, preparing them for the speed and demands of today’s game.
In 2026, we place a special focus on expansion. Guided by #HockeySpeaksOneLanguage, we aim to welcome more nations than ever before, including emerging hockey countries, to build a diverse and connected officiating community.
Alongside world-class training, participants gain valuable opportunities to learn from NHL experts and international professionals, forming networks that support long-term growth.

Meet the instructors
The camp will feature a team of expert instructors from the NHL and the International Ice Hockey Federation. Al Kimmel, Mike Leggo, Dave Smith, Chris Edwards, Tom Masters and Mark Faucette, the same people running the NHL Exposure Combine in Buffalo, New York will lead the training and development program, providing participants with comprehensive and practical learning experiences. These instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in officiating, scouting, development, game management, rule interpretation, fitness, and coaching, and will ensure that participants receive the best possible training and education.
Together, the instructors will help participants enhance their skills and knowledge of ice hockey officiating, with a focus on practical and hands-on training. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from the best in the business, network with fellow officials, Referee-in-Chiefs and explore the vibrant city of Budapest, making this camp an unforgettable experience for all.
